en by Travel News  /  Thomas Bloom, 2. Jul 2008

British Airways is to buy French airline L’Avion for £54 million - both can be booked via Momondo. L'Avion will continue to operate between Paris Orly and Newark airport in New York, but will integrated into OpenSkies, BA’s new EU-US airline which began operations on June 19 with daily flights from Paris Orly to New York JFK and operate up to three daily flights between Paris Orly and New York JFK/Newark airports.

Book by Friday July 4th, SkyEurope has made 99.000 tickets available for €9 or £9 one-way all inclusive. SkyEurope operates out of a number of Eastern European destinations to many major European cities including Prague and Vienna from Copenhagen.

Flybe is offering flights across the UK from as little as £21.99 each way (including taxes and charges), with flight available from October to mid-December with e.g. Manchester to the Isle of Man and Edinburgh to Dublin for £21.99; Belfast to Manchester for £22.99; Edinburgh to Belfast for £22.99 and Cardiff to Edinburgh for £24.99.

For our American visitors, American Airlines has reduced fares over the summer - one-way fares, excluding taxes and surcharges as low as 79 USD, e.g. between Atlanta and St. Louis - based on booking a return flight. Southwest will launch an Albany to Fort Lauderdale service starting November 2nd, offering one-way fares of $89 for passengers who book 14 days in advance through January 9th, 2009.
