Lufthansa is having a Chinese flights sale. The five available destinations are Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Shenyang, with return fares available from £ 399 (ca. € 506), including taxes and charges. Travel between November 1, 2008 and January 31, 2009. Book by August 5. British Airways subsidiary OpenSkies will be an all-business airline. When the inaugural flight will be flown on October 1 between Paris and New York, the flight will have 24 business class seats and 40 premium economy seats. The same will be the case on the route between Amsterdam and New York JFK, when it’s launched on October 15. easyJet has announced that they will launch four new routes during the winter schedule. First two routes will be launched to Morocco from Paris Charles de Gaulle on October 27. The routes will fly to Casablanca and Tangier. Secondly, two routes will be launched to Rome Fiumicino from London Gatwick and Milan Malpensa. These routes will be launched on November 2.
Spanish airline Clickair, will from October 26 launch a new route between London Heathrow and Bilbao in the northern part of Spain.
bmi is offering a sale on its Caribbean routes from four of its bases in England and Scotland. Fly from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester. Caribbean destinations include the popular islands of Barbados and Antigua. Travel between September 1 and October 15. Return tickets start from £ 296 (ca. € 375), including taxes and charges. Book by August 1.As long as the Lufthansa strike runs, FlyBe will increase capacity and frequency on its flights bound for Germany. About 5,000 employees of the German carrier have staged an indefinite holdout following a dispute of pay.Ryanair is for the first time in its history facing a deficit in this financial year. As many other airlines, this deficit is due to the enormous rise we have seen in the cost of oil this year. But here stops the comparison with other airlines. Ryanair has decided to, in difference to common behavior in these situations, to drop the price of its tickets by five percent. Though no precise date has been set for the change in price, Ryanair has announced that it will happen in this financial year.
In other news, Ryanair will expand its network of routes at Weeze Airport close to Dusseldorf. From October 27 new routes will be launched to Ancona, Birmingham, Dublin, Faro, Gothenburg Saeve, Manchester, Oslo Torp, Riga, Santander and Tenerife Sur.

As many other routes recently, the rising cost of fuel is the reason for the stopping of the routes to Queretaro from August 2 and to Leon/Guanajuato from August 18.Transavia will launch five new seasonal routes to Austria and Germany. Routes will be launched from Innsbruck to Berlin Tegel and Hamburg Fuhlsbuettel, as well as from Brussels International to Innsbruck, Salzburg, Rotterdam and Friedrichshafen. The routes will be launched on December 19.
Germanwings will launch a couple of new winter routes from Sarajevo. The first to be launched will fly to the Cologne-Bonn Airport flying from mid-August, while the route to Stuttgart will be launched on October 27.
Lufthansa is urging its passengers to check its website for details concerning flight information, admitting that an indefinite strike by maintenance, catering and cabin crew could cause delays and in the worse case cancellations. The strike started at midnight, but Lufthansa claims that its first 600 flights departed on time. Air India resumed its direct flight between London Heathrow and Kolkata, capital of West Bengali, Saturday July 26. The route will now be operated three times weekly, operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. British Airways has completed the purchase of airline L’Avion, suggesting an expansion of its new subsidiary OpenSkies launched last month. Full integration of L’Avion’s fleet of aircrafts is expected to be completed by the start of 2009.
In other news, the all-business-class carrier will launch a new route from New York on October 15. The route will fly from the JFK Airport to Amsterdam on a daily basis.
Virgin Atlantic is offering cross-Atlantic flights on sale from London Heathrow Airport. Return flights to the most popular destinations in the US are available from £ 349 (ca. € 440). Destinations as San Francisco, Miami and New York are available for travel from August 22 to December 14, with prices changing according to the departure dates. Flights to Orlando are also available from London Gatwick and Manchester. Book by August 4.
Aer Arann has announced that due to the rising cost of oil, they will suspend its service between Inverness and Dublin. The route will end in September, while decisions as to whether the service will be reinstated in the spring will be made later.
The American airline Southwest are offering one-way fares around the US for just $ 29, excluding taxes and charges. Selected short-haul routes are available in the sale, while the only requirement for the sale is that you buy 21 days in advance. Book by midnight (US Central Time) on Friday, August 1.
