Strike on hold at Scottish airports, More flights to Berlin from Copenhagen

en by Travel News  /  Thomas Bloom, 29. Jun 2008

Anybody travelling to Scotland this week can breath sigh of relief - at least for the time being. A planned strike due to take place later this week has been suspended to allow the two sides to continue talks.

Due to increased oil prices, Northwest Airlines is following a number of other US airlines and cancelling flights across the Atlantic during the winter. Routes that are affected include Hartfort to Amsterdam, Minneapolis to Paris and Detroit to Düsseldorf.

With fares starting at £21.99, (€28), winter flights from Bristol, East Midlands, Manchester and Newcastle have been put on sale by easyJet. Flights run from November 2nd to March 28th. The carrier is releasing its winter schedule base by base with other bases being made available over the next few weeks.

Air Berlin, will double the number of flights between Copenhagen and Berin Tegel, starting with its winter schedule in November. With the added flights Air Berlin will fly Copenhagen to Berlin twice daily, morning and evening on weekdays, with a single flight at weekends. Flights start at 199 DKK (€27) one-way including taxes and fees. Air Berlin flies twice daily from Copenhagen to Berlin as well as daily flights to Palma de Mallorca.
