Cimber Air is the latest airline to raise the fuel surcharge due to the high oil prices. Domestic routes will see a raise of € 3, giving a total surcharge of € 10. On international routes the total surcharge will now be of € 20. The added surcharge matches the total extra surcharge introduced by their two closest competitors, Sterling and SAS.
In comparison to many other airlines Ryanair still refuse to increase their surcharge due to the rising oil prices. Instead they have decided to ground 20 of their 166 airplanes as a result of the raised oil prices, which has made it unprofitable to operate a slew of the airlines routes.
Sterling will during the coming winter season add an extra daily service on the route from Copenhagen Airport to London Gatwick. The extra service will hopefully help the airline get more business people interested in travelling to Gatwick rather than Heathrow.
bmibaby launched a new route from Cardiff International Airport to Barcelona during the weekend. The route will operated twice weekly until June 18, where after the route will see an increase to three weekly services. One-way fares are available from £ 24.99 (ca. € 38), including taxes and charges.
