What looks like a traditional townhouse in Yemen is actually Brazil's most feted pret-a-porter designer Alexandre Herchcovitch’s store in Tokyo's über hip fashion enclave of Daikanyama.
With a facade that features a double-edge razor blade design, Alexandre Herchcovitch’s freestanding Tokyo-store carries his men's and women's wear collections. The Sao Paolo-born designer has a strong following in Japan where a good part of his collections are purchased. His design is famous for bright colors and loud prints (often skulls and bones drawings) – those afraid of pattern and print won’t apply!
Alexandre Herchcovitch launched his first collection in 1994, and since then things have only gotten bigger. Among other things, he has designed the kit for Brazil's Olympic athletes, a cell-phone made in conjunction with the American manufacturer Motorola and even uniforms for McDonald's in his homeland.
The store in Tokyo is designed by Brazilian architect Arthur Casas.
