Legend has it that sandwiches were invented in England by a hungry aristocrat - the Earl of Sandwich - who asked for his dinner to be made portable so that he wouldn’t have to abandon his card game. Anyone who’s ever grabbed lunch in a British train station, however, knows that we don’t always do right by the sandwich.
